Greg Potts
PhD 2016
Ph.D. 2016
Education: BS, Chemistry, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign
Research Focus: As an Analytical Chemistry Ph.D. student working in the lab of Professor Josh Coon, Greg's research utilizes mass spectrometry to quantify the intracellular protein expression of cells that are infected with Vesicular Stomatitis Virus (VSV). Changes in viral and cellular protein levels are monitored by various quantitative mass spectrometry methods to elucidate the underlying biology of these viral infections. Such data can be incorporated into kinetic models to predict viral growth and spread in perturbed systems. Additional work will use mass spectrometry to quantify host cell phosphorylation cascades in response to viral infections.
